I provide independent consulting, analysis, design, implementation, maintenance, technical support services and training on Novell GroupWise, and all other Novell products. I am known throughout Greater Toronto Area and user community as the local "GroupWise Guru".

I have been working with, designing, installing, supporting, maintaining all versions of GroupWise since 1994, working on systems up to 10,000+ users.

Current Work:

Recently I have worked with large (4000+) and small customers employing Storage Area Networks (SANs) and Blade Servers. Some projects have also involved GroupWise implemented on Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 servers.

I have also assisted several other customers in upgrading to GroupWise 6.5 & 7, NetWare 6.5, Zenworks 6.5 & 7 and SAN's/Clustering. These include such firms as TravelCuts, Ontario Nurses Association, Pollard Windows, Sprott Securities, and Brisbin Brook Beynon Architects.

New Tree and Workstation migration
New eDirectory Tree and Server migration to SAN/Cluster/Blade Server environment for NetWare and GroupWise. Assist in design and prototype for 36-school migration and seamless workstation cutover.

Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (the CBC) '04 - '05
GroupWise Tuning and system-wide upgrade
Improve and better manage their 10,000 seat GroupWise system. I single-handedly upgraded all 23 Domains and 65 Post Offices across the country in very short order and no disruption to the users. In Toronto this was on their 8-Node SAN GroupWise Cluster and spread across all Canada, including to Iqaluit over a satellite link.

Canon Canada - '04
Tree upgrade and Workstation migration
Design and implement new eDirectory tree, server upgrade and seamless workstation cut-over to new tree. With Novell Identity Manager and extensive (but automated) registry modifications, implement password-synchronization and invisible change-over at the two largest of the 12 WAN sites.

NorthwesTel (Yukon, NWT, Nunavut) - '03
Company-wide GroupWise upgrade and Training
Upgraded all sites, servers, gateways and desktop clients from GroupWise v4.1a to GroupWise 6 in a very aggressive time frame. Collaborated with local teams and management, as well as worked alone in remote and isolated locations. Provided Administrator-level Training and End-User Training. Provided innovative and flexible solutions (including Novell ZenWorks for Desktops) for rapid and automated GroupWise client deployment and other remote upgrades. Provided several solutions for secure off-site email/calendar/contacts access.

Ontario Nurses Association - '02
Regional office data consolidation and upgrade
Centralized and consolidated 9 field office servers to a pair of clustered servers in HQ  Upgraded all users to Novell GroupWise 6 and all servers to Novell NetWare 6. Installed and configured web/internet/portal based access to all server files and office printing from home or any browser.

New York State Dept of Environment
Novell Portal Services and GroupWise upgrade/consolidation
Assisted in creation of intranet web portal providing access to many internal systems from inside and outside the office. Also consulted on upgrade and server consolidation plan for 35,000 GroupWise mailboxes.

SouthLake Regional Health Centre
Novell NetWare 6 Server installation and Novell GroupWise 6 upgrade
Short timeline installation and upgrade of this Hospital's entire groupware system.

Woodbine Entertainment Group
New server installation/configuration and system-wide Novell GroupWise 6 upgrade.
Also provided web and cel-phone access to email, calendar, tasks and contacts.

CB Richard Ellis
Provided Training on Novell ZenWorks desktop management software. Designed architecture for ZenWorks for Desktops HW/SW inventory configuration, Software distribution and remote control.

WordPerfect Corporation - '92-'93
Worked 1 year prior to merger with Novell as the first and only WordPerfect Systems Engineer in Canada and supported GroupWise since its creation by WP in 1994.

Ontario Hydro - '85-'92
Worked 7 years in Analysis and IT positions. These include Help Desk, Training, Product Evaluation, Documentation, Admin and chairing of the Hydro Network Users Group, Admin and maintenance of the Hydro BBS (dial-up Bulletin Board). Administrator of MSMail Post Office
